Process for applying for a National Police Check
A person can apply for a National Police Certificate at:
- a local police station; or
- through an agency accredited by the Australian Government CrimTrac Agency to perform the National Police History Check, for example, Fit2work Instant Checks.
To apply at a local police station a person needs to provide identification e.g. current Driver License or Passport and pay an application fee (the cost can be claimed by the worker as a tax deduction). It usually takes a minimum of 28 days to process the police screening. More information can be found at Queensland Police Certificate.
Fit2work Instant Checks allow a person to complete an application online and verify their identification and pay the application fee at any Australian Post office. The person can track their status online and download the certificate, which is usually available in 2-3 days. More information can be found at Fit2work Instant Checks.
