Purchasing services from providers not funded by the department
If you purchase services from a provider not funded by the department (e.g. a community organisation) to work with a person with disability you should ask the provider what safeguards and employment screening they have in place to protect people with disability, including the types of criminal history screening their workers are required to undergo, e.g.:
- do workers have a National Police Certificate (if working with adults)?
- do workers have a blue card (if working with children)?
- do workers have a National Police Certificate and a blue card (if working with both adults and children)?
You should be satisfied the screening undertaken by the provider adequately protects you.
